There’s no doubt about it – handmade plywood kitchens are on the up and with very good reason. They deliver style, without losing out on the substance. If you’re looking for a kitchen that will provide you with functionality and a timeless aesthetic, then you really ought to consider this material. Complementing any space – traditional or modern, a plywood kitchen gives minimalist simplicity and light and bright clean lines. Perfect for anybody who loves symmetry and uniformity or just has an appreciation for fine design.
As well as looking beautiful, plywood is incredibly practical and hard wearing. This is down to the process in which it is made. Layers of thin wood veneers are bonded together, alternately, under high pressure at 90 degrees. This creates one of the strongest board materials out there, with less chance of damage when being screwed or nailed.
Exactly what you need if your kitchen is the heart of your home with the hustle bustle and frequent use to match. We offer Birch ply carcasses, which is a strong ply that gives the robustness that can handle all the memories you’re going to create in it. We transform raw materials into eye-catching features, from a distinctive plywood kitchen island to lovingly upholstered cabinetry and storage solutions.
Our Shutford plywood kitchen project resulted in some very happy customers, with the start to finish bespoke kitchen design that we created for them. To meet their brief of giving them a light, durable surface, on top of the clear lacquer that is applied to the natural finish to treat the wood, we applied a white Fenix NTM surface to enhance the durability and ensure it could be wiped and cleaned with ease.
We also worked to create a lovingly considered plywood kitchen in Cropredy, capturing the vision for refreshing an old, tired space with a reworked, practical birch plywood design.
Did you know that we provide sustainable plywood kitchen design services? We only use high quality plywood which is made using sustainably sourced hardwoods. Plywood is one of the most eco-friendly materials, so teamed with the fact that it will stand the test of time, opting for a Plywood kitchen is a great choice for the environmentally conscious.
When it comes to designing kitchens in Plywood, we advise our customers to be brave, have fun and let their creativity flourish. Their natural finishes have so much flexibility; whether that’s to blend into an earthy, boho 70’s style kitchen or to provide the backdrop for bright and bold colours. Designing with ply allows you to marry up different materials in a way that other kitchens don’t allow – think concrete and cork, stone and glass. This is your chance to create something truly unique and different – so don’t hold back.
You can be sure that the team working on your Plywood kitchen installation are going to love it as much as you. As our Founder and Director Luke Cherry explains:
“Birch plywood is by far one of my favourite materials to work with, both in design and making. It has a very simplistic and calming nature about it. The warmth of natural Birch timber compliments a number of other surfaces which when used together have a great impact on a finished design. Using Plywood for our kitchens allows me to enter a different creative space when considering the aesthetics of a room”
