The brief

Debra and Paul live locally to our Cropredy showroom and often walk past. Their home has had many extensions over the years leaving their kitchen feeling disjointed and closed off. They came to us with an idea to extend once more to provide more space for a more open kitchen.

After some discussions with us and one of our recommended builders a different route was taken and an internal wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed to create the open space they were looking for.

The property has a gorgeous large garden to the rear and the kitchen doors open out to bring join the indoor and outdoor spaces together.

Debra and Paul were very keen to have two Neff slide n hide ovens at a convenient working height and also wanted a combiner’s microwave/oven near to those.

With plans in place and a clear understanding of the brief got started on their brand new shaker kitchen design.

The Vision

Debra and Paul opted for a Shaker style kitchen from the very beginning. Together, we decided to add cock beaded frames and one of our door mouldings to add some detail to the design.

To make use of the space and answer the brief we kept all of the tall cabinets to one end, leaving the new vaulted ceiling area uncluttered with plenty of natural light beaming in from the new sky light.

We were able to create a tall corner pantry which used up some of the void left in the corner where the working height oven cabinets and the fridge/freezer and pantry meet. We added a Bora PURE exhaust air cooktop to the design to remove the need for any overhead extraction.

After some deliberation Debra opted for the colour Mylands – Flanders Grey, which gives a beautiful contrast between the wood effect tiled floor and the hand burnished nickel door and drawer hardware.
