Cropredy, Oxfordshire

The brief:

Peter and Vicky were previous clients of ours and had recently moved to a new property in Cropredy. Their new house had been occupied by an elderly couple and needed a refresh to be given a new lease of life.

Having completed a significant renovation project at their previous home, they very quickly set plans in motion to put their stamp on the new space. The original footprint was large and built with influences from spacious American architecture. Although the rooms were big, they created separate areas for living, dining and kitchen. Vicky is a very busy grandmother (a.k.a Nanma) and to make the space work for her she wanted open plan living, with this room to be the hub of family life.

We discussed their plans to complete structural work and once we had the space confirmed we set about designing their brand-new kitchen.

With a very clear vision for the end result Peter & Vicky briefed us to create a contemporary feeling kitchen, with symmetry and clean lines a major part of the design.

The Vision

Although this project took us away from our usual Shaker design style, we really enjoyed creating a contemporary design for Peter & Vicky’s new home.

We followed their vision closely and created a simple and sleek design, with lots of hidden practical solutions throughout.

To make full use of all space we worked in storage solutions outside of the main kitchen area, this included a pantry cupboard and opposite that a tall cupboard for storing the mop, hoover and other cleaning equipment.

We created a bespoke spice drawer, hidden bin, and integrated appliances. And of course, Vicky’s Everhot was a key component of the design.

With such a vast space we were able to include a large island with seating for 6. The island also included drawers, open shelving, and a wine rack.

The colour scheme was Mylands Islington no. 23 and Oratory no. 237, and complements the overall space perfectly.
