The brief:

Our clients for this Northamptonshire bespoke kitchen project got in touch through a mutual acquaintance to discuss their requirements for their new kitchen. Part of the project saw them complete some light renovation to the kitchen space including the widening and rebuilding of the oven mantle and laying new floor. Other than that, the transformation was to come from our bespoke kitchen design.

Their brief was clear and well considered. Although a relatively modest space in their Northamptonshire home, the inclusion of an island with seating was important to our clients, to help achieve a social feel to the room. From a storage perspective they wanted us to include a full height larder and integrated fridge freezer as well as a tall pantry to give them easy access to everyday essentials. And they requested that we incorporate a cabinet to make full use of an old deep window reveal. Finally they were set on including an Everhot oven.

The Vision

Based on the brief for this Northamptonshire bespoke kitchen we opted for a classic shaker kitchen design. In order to keep the design as simplistic as possible we decided against using any mouldings for the cabinetry. Our clients opted for a white finish and specifically chose School House White no.291 by Farrow and Ball, a colour that was used in adjoining rooms so gave ultimate continuity throughout their home.

Answering our clients brief we designed an island with seating but ensured that there was still plenty of space for free-flowing movement throughout the room. We designed full height storage including the integrated fridge freezer and sourced their chosen Everhot oven. We were also able to answer their request for a cabinet to make use of the old deep window reveal.

The final result is a timeless, light and classic handmade shaker kitchen that blends perfectly with its surroundings in the rest of the home.
