The brief:

Our clients for this Northamptonshire Shaker kitchen project got in touch to discuss their  requirements after a word of mouth recommendation.

Jessie and Chris had lived in their quaint country cottage for several years and had made do with their inherited, cramped and worn kitchen. After some structural work to remove the existing wall between the kitchen and the entrance room they came to us to discuss how to make the best of their new space.

Their brief was to create a practical and stylish shaker kitchen that kept the feeling of space they had been after for so long. It needed to allow for dining space as well as free movement around the working areas. The adjoining boot room was also included in the brief as they wanted the two rooms to flow seamlessly into one. Again, the space here was small but home to some essentials for Jessie and Chris. With the Cylinder for the Biomass heating system, a hidden gun cabinet, washing machine, tumble dryer, space for two family dogs, coats and shoes to accommodate we had to be smart with a space saving design.

The Vision

To compliment the feeling of their lovely country cottage we opted for a classic Shaker kitchen design for this Northamptonshire kitchen. The beauty of Shaker styling means it adapts to its surroundings effortlessly. The base cabinets in the kitchn were painted in Mylands – Bond Street no.219 and the wall cabinets Mylands – Islington no.23, which was also carried through to the boot room.

The old floor tiles in the kitchen were particularly special as they were original. Jessie sourced the same ones for the boot room which was well worth the effort for the final result.

We included a bespoke, handmade dining table for the family to enjoy meals together, and opted for a Belfast sink to compliment the over all design.
