The brief:

Rachel and Mike initially got in touch after visiting our showroom while looking for inspiration for their recently purchased home. New to the local area they were determined to update their existing kitchen design and had decided that Cherrywood Bespoke would be a good fit to help bring their vision of a timeless, classic kitchen to life.

From the outset it was clear that storage and workspace was going to be key in enhancing the existing kitchen design in Rachel and Mike’s Oxfordshire home so together we set about discussing exactly what it was they wanted from a new kitchen.

Utilising smart storage solution within the space they already had, without making any structural changes, was a must and so early on we agreed that an island was the best way to achieve this. After completing a visit to their home, plus a follow-up meeting at our Oxfordshire showroom, we opted for an entirely new kitchen design in order to provide them with the light, warm and impactful kitchen they wanted.

The Vision

To achieve the style that Rachel and Mike were after, our team opted for a classic Shaker kitchen. Building on this traditional kitchen design as the premise, we incorporated many bespoke, smart storage solutions to meet the customers need for a versatile space. Comprising an integrated fridge freezer, built in pantry cupboard and discreet under-island storage feature, we ensured that this kitchen design had everything a busy, modern home needs, including handmade tray units, bespoke cutlery dividers and hidden bin storage.

During the first round of discussions, Rachel and Mike wanted to go big on an island design. However, we recommended scaling it down in size slightly to keep the space free flowing and functional. Thankfully they agreed, and the result is a beautifully made island that doubles as a storage solution and a social seating area too – much to the enjoyment of Rachel, Mike and their two dogs.

In order to create the light and classic space they were after, we shared colour options from Mylands Paint and landed upon a natural stone colour with light worktops, helping to complete the final vision and bring Rachel and Mike’s brand-new kitchen design to life.

“We had not planned to replace the kitchen in our new home so soon but felt the original kitchen needed the addition of an island, to give us more storage & work-surface. I had made a note of Cherrywood Bespoke a local company, after seeing their work on Instagram. Cutting a long story short, after a visit by Luke to the House & a visit to their show room, we decided on Luke’s advice during his visit, that building an Island that would never quite look the same as the original kitchen, would not give us the wow we were looking for, so we took the decision to go for a complete new kitchen! We have certainly not regretted that decision, he worked professionally & conscientiously throughout the entire project and both he and his employees attention to detail & passion for their jobs shines through in our finished kitchen. Luke was a delight to work with, helping us through every decision we needed to make to design our dream kitchen, going as far as setting up a mock Island in our kitchen, to make sure we were happy with the size of the Island & inviting us down to the work shop to see the kitchen being made, nothing was too much trouble. we are so lucky to not only have a dream kitchen that gives us a wow every day but one that is also a joy to cook, eat & entertain in.  We are delighted with our kitchen built by Cherrywood Bespoke & highly recommended them.”
