How to choose your bespoke kitchen company

Having a bespoke kitchen created is a hugely personal affair. Creating the space that you’ve always wanted is a special experience and you want it to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. It’s a collaborative process that will require you to work together to design from scratch, what you have in your mind. Choosing a bespoke kitchen company that is a good match with you is important for the following reasons:

  • You need to work with someone who listens and understands what you want but who also adds value and challenges you to consider some things that a bit different too
  • You need to trust in them, that they are going to be able to turn your vision in to a reality, and deliver on time and on budget
  • You need to have a good working relationship, get on well and feel like you can communicate with ease along the way

But how do you find the bespoke kitchen company that are going to deliver on those things?

Firstly, you should think about the criteria that’s important to you. Would you like the company you work with to be geographically close to you? Is it important that they are independent, or would you rather work with a big chain?

Do your research. Don’t just choose the first bespoke kitchen company you come across. See what’s around and spend some time getting a feel for them as a company and an understanding of their offer and past work. If you can get a word-of-mouth recommendation from a friend then that’s great – but if not then looking on the internet, on websites and social media can also give you a good idea of a company’s values, track record and output.

Look at their websites and see the types of kitchens they offer – are any of them the kind of thing that you have in mind? Read the information about their processes, the materials that they use and get a sense of their personality.

Get a few quotes and use that experience as a way of seeing how easy they are to deal with. You want them to be helpful, but not pushy and by talking to them speculatively about what it is you might want, you will get a sense of their experience and passion.

Don’t just take their word for it. Look at testimonials on their website and see how other customers found working with them. You can spot a fake review from a mile off and equally can tell which ones are genuine. Look for testimonials to be accompanied by detailed case study information and imagery of the project. These things combined will give you the best idea of a) the quality of their work but b) just as importantly, the service that they provide and how easy and enjoyable they made things.
